What do we mean when we say "caretaker"
Some people outside the community wonder why anyone would ever want to take care of an adult baby. A common response is "I wouldn't want to change my partner's diaper, its just weird. Why would anyone agree to do that"
First and foremost, not all adult babies wear diapers, second, not all of them actually use them. That being said, taking care of an adult baby can be one of the rewarding experiences a person can have because adult babies are both very sweet, and usually unspeakably grateful for any attention. The yearning for love and attention that most adult babies have is bottled up for years. When it is let out it can be overwhelming. It is important to remember that adult babies are just expressing and receiving love in a healthy, albeit unique way.
"Usually what happens when I look after her is, I'll put her in a thick diaper, give her her pacifier, and we'll cuddle, maybe with a bit of silly baby playing (like, raspberries on her tummy, peekaboo, her being silly)." - A Loving Mommy
While being a caretaker can be exausting, it is considred by most to be one of the most rewarding experiences because of the level of devotion and the level of trust required from all parties involved. A quote from a caretaker, "I'm the most important thing in the world to them". Diaper changes for example require a lot of trust. They involve not only being in someone's private space but they mean exposure to another individual's bodily waste. Even just allowing another person to even hug them or see them dressed as a baby/toddler requires a great deal of trust from both parties. Most ABDLs keep their ABDL as their most painful deep secret for many years. Asking a partner to take care of them or for a change requires some serious faith in the relationship one is in.
